The suppression of emotions are so damaging to one's physical and mental health. It is more efficient to learn to regulate and to express them appropriately, rather than to try push them down (suck it up, swallow it down, move one, be a man...) only to have them eventually come back either with more strenght or in other forms and create further problems.
